FOR LUNCH, LURE COURSING AND A WALK ALONG THE BOYNE IN CO.MEATH

 

 

12NOON Sharp meeting for Lunch

In the Conynham Arms in Slane for Lunch

Menu price range from €10.95 to €12.95

With secure parking to the rear of the hotel (watch out for the sign on the gate next to the Hotel)

 

12:15am REGISTRATION

Register your wolfhound for the Lure Coursing stakes

Stakes for Puppy, Junior and Open hounds.

 

1pm DRAW FOR ALL STAKES FOR THE LURE COURSING

All entries will be pulled from the hat and listed for the competitions.

 

2pm SHARP MEETING AT THE SLANE GALLOPS FOR LURE COURSING

1st brace in slips for the Lure Coursing

Directions to the Gallops will be handed out at lunch.

 

3:30pm BOYNE WALK

Picnic area available next to Car Park at the Traffic Light at the Slane Bridge.

 

With storytelling along the Boyne River. As we pass Slane Castle we will listen to the adventures of Cu Cuchallain  and the Salmon of Knowledge.

 

A real must for all ages …..bring a heavy coat….. your Wellies ….. a picnic for down at the river …..and for the more adventuress …your bikinis and swimming togs !!!!!

 

All Wolfhounds must have their own life jackets if they want to swim in the Boyne otherwise they must be kept on leads throughout the walk.

Anyone who would like to explore the Boyne area more Newgrange is just 5km from the gallops and Slane Village the burial tombs of Knowth and Dowth are next to Newgrange and for the Poets in the group the famous poet Francis Ledwidge hails from Slane and you can visit his museum just two miles from the village on the Drogheda road.

Coming from Dublin (22 miles), leave the M50 to the Ashbourne turn off N2, pass through Ashbourne and follow the road straight to Slane. At the crossroads in Slane turn left and the hotel is on the left hand side.

From Belfast (46 miles) bypass Dundalk to the M50. Take the Slane/Drogheda slip road and follow the roundabout to Slane. This road will take you direct to Slane village, through the traffic lights and the hotel is again on the left hand side.

Coming from Navan (8 miles) take the N51 direct to Slane Village and the Hotel is on the right hand side before the traffic lights.
