AN INVITATION TO OUR APRIL WALK AT WATERFORD CASTLE
SUNDAY, 26th APRIL
2009.
Dear Members and Friends,
Our next get-together
is a wonderful walk at Waterford Castle, a
real treat. The Castle is set on a 310 acre
island in Co Waterford, A very short ferry ride across
the river will place us on the island where we will be welcomed with a
tea and coffee reception at 11am.
After our coffee we will set off on our walk down one of the pretty nature trails. All hounds on leads at all times please; the Castle grounds are home to a herd of deer, some pheasant, rabbits and hares. We don't want any coursing on the nearby award-winning golf course.
Lunch is set for 3pm and is being
prepared by the Castle's head chef Mr. Michael
Quinn, and at a price of €35
per head;
Accommodation is available for
anyone
who would like to stay over Saturday night at a
discounted price
in any of the holiday lodges on the island that can sleep
six people for
€250 per night.
I would appreciate your support on
this outing as it is a real honour to be allowed on the island to walk
with our hounds and who knows maybe we could return for a show at a
later date.
Those of you intending to have lunch:
Please email me your details so as
I may inform the Castle as to our numbers for the same.
Directions to the Castle are below and also on the Castle website here.
Many thanks, hope to see you all
there,

With a journey time of just three minutes, the island operates a private ferry service providing a constant 24/7 service to and from Waterford. It is well serviced by road, rail and bus and Waterford Regional Airport is less than 10 kms away.
Waterford is a town of over 40,000 people which is in South East Ireland, and is accesible from all the main ports and airports (including Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Rosslare). Numerous connection flights are available from the London and the UK, including direct daily flights from London Luton to Waterford Airport.
At first roundabout approaching Waterford City, take signs for Waterford Regional Hospital and Dunmore East. Continue for 6 miles until you arrive at Waterford Regional Hospital. At roundabout keep right, continue on this round for 1 miles passing 2 pedestrian lights, at the next traffic lights turn left. Continue on this road until you see the ferry crossing to the Island and Waterford CastleGolf Club.
Turn right, at the train station roundabout, on to bridge over the River Suir. Turn left at next lights on to the City quay, continue down the quay in the left-hand lane, past the Tower Hotel. At the lights immediately after the Tower Hotel turn left on to the Dunmore Road, continue past the park, and bear left at the college.
